Chuck Forsman was born in Nampa, Idaho, and has been a Professor of Fine Arts at the University of Colorado at Boulder since 1971. He has been painting the western landscape since the 1970s when he began to notice the impact of man upon the land.

Chuck Forsman has been a visiting artist at a number of universities and colleges. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including the National Endowment for the Arts, a Hassam Fund Purchase Award from the National Academy of Arts and Letters, and three West Publishing Art and Law Purchase Awards. His paintings can be found in many notable public and corporate collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Denver Art Museum, the Phoenix Art Museum, the McNay Museum of Art, and the Anschutz Corporation, among many others.
