The Gerald Peters Gallery is pleased to announce new works by acclaimed Texas artist, Bale Creek Allen.

Empire is as much a nod to the ancient past as it is a piercing look at world events and issues of today. It is indeed a reflection on actions repeating themselves in historical perpetuity. The work featured in Empire merges two realities with great assurance and success. Exploration of war, loss, patriotism, religious and political divisions in America and similar divisions found throughout the rest of the modern world compound with an outlook of hope, transformation, beauty and external longevity. Collectors and followers of Allen’s work will be pleased to see this exploration executed in his signature manner of utilizing unexpected but ordinary objects, creating a body of modern Americana through photographs, found objects, as well as bronze tumble weeds, bits of assembled cloth and tire treads.

Bale Creek Allen was born in Los Angeles in 1968 and studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Massachusetts; he was awarded his degree after only two years due to the quality of his work. Allen has exhibited widely, in both solo and group exhibitions, has performed on the stage and in film, and in 1999 produced a self-titled solo album. The artist currently resides in Austin, Texas.
